William's story
One of the attributes of the vehicle is it’s evasive maneuverability. This was made very clear to me several weeks ago on my way to work. I live on Old Hickory lake and much of the road into the city runs parallel to the water. One of the many curves is blind and also a favorite fishing hole for many people. As I drove to work a garbage truck came around the curve toward me using most of my lane as his had a fisherman’s truck parked half on the shoulder and half in the road. I was able to dodge the garbage truck (I am certain his tires were bigger than my car) and still have enough pavement for me to drive on. Had I been in my G-Wagen I would have either hit the truck or went for a swim.
I also have had the unfortunate experience of being hit while stopped at a traffic light. No damage except one of the backup sensors was knocked out. I popped it back in and it is none worse for the wear. The young lady who hit me apologized and explained she was texting and thought were we going. Her car was larger than the Smart and I did bounce several feet from the impact.
